PADI Discover Scuba Diving at Koh Nangyuan is your perfect introduction to the underwater world. After completing your online e-learning, your instructor will guide you through how to use the equipment, practice the most important skills in the shallow water from the beach, and then go scuba diving together with you to explore the reefs surrounding Koh Nangyuan. After your first scuba dive, you can then choose to do more dives from the beach to keep exploring.

The yellow dive boat sets off every morning and afternoon for two exhilarating dives around the stunning islands of Koh Tao and Nangyuan. Come aboard and discover the breathtaking underwater landscapes just off the coast, including renowned dive spots like White Rock, Lighthouse, and HTMS Sattakut among others.

Focus on your diving in the day then relax and unwind in your beach bungalow in the evening. Bungalows D1 – D4 are located on the middle island directly behind the dive office, just a stones throw from the beach. These rooms all feature a double or twin bed, air conditioning, hot water, a balcony, and breakfast is included.

Can I go scuba diving directly from the beach at Koh Nangyuan?
Yes. Duck n Dive Nangyuan offers beach dives directly from Koh Nangyuan island to our house reefs, including Japanese Gardens and Twins Bay. You can be underwater within minutes of leaving our dive center—no boat required.
Do I need to be a certified diver to try scuba diving at Koh Nangyuan?
No. Our PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience is for complete beginners. In about two hours, you’ll learn basic skills and then dive from the beach with an instructor to a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet).
What is the difference between a beach dive and a boat dive at Koh Nangyuan?
Beach dives start directly from Koh Nangyuan’s shore and are ideal for beginners or short sessions. Boat dives take you further out via our dedicated dive boat or speedboat to sites like Sail Rock and Chumphon Pinnacles, where you can see larger marine life and deeper drop-offs.
Can I stay on Koh Tao and still dive with you at Koh Nangyuan?
Yes, day visitors are welcome. However, staying at Koh Nangyuan Resort gives you the earliest access to dive sites before other boats arrive, plus the ability to do morning and sunset beach dives that day-trippers cannot.
What marine life can I see at Japanese Gardens dive site?
Japanese Gardens features hard and soft coral gardens, anemone fish (clownfish), parrotfish, butterflyfish, moray eels, and occasional turtles. It is a shallow reef (5–14 meters) suitable for beginners and macro photography.
Is Sail Rock suitable for beginner divers?
Sail Rock is generally recommended for Advanced Open Water divers due to deeper depths (maximum 30 meters) and potential currents. However, our experienced instructors can take confident Open Water divers with good buoyancy control. The site is famous for batfish schools, barracudas, and the underwater chimney swim-through.
What makes Chumphon Pinnacles different from other dive sites?
Chumphon Pinnacles is a deep site (maximum 30+ meters) consisting of submerged granite pinnacles. It is known for larger pelagic species including whale sharks (seasonal, March–June), giant groupers, and schools of chevron barracuda. Advanced certification is strongly recommended.
How long does it take to get PADI Open Water certified at Koh Nangyuan?
The PADI Open Water Diver course takes 3–4 days, including confined water sessions, knowledge development, and four open water dives. Two dives will be conducted from the beach at Japanese Gardens and Twins Pinnacles, and two more from our boat.
What is included in your scuba diving prices?
All dive packages include full equipment rental (BCD, regulator, wetsuit, mask, fins, tank), weights, dive computer (for courses), and a professional PADI instructor or divemaster. Boat dives include refreshments. Accommodation at Koh Nangyuan Resort is not included unless booked separately.
Can I do a scuba diving refresher if I haven't dived in over a year?
Yes. We offer a refresher course which includes a short knowledge update and confined water skills practice, followed by an optional open water dive. This takes approximately half a day.
What safety standards does your dive center follow?
Duck n Dive Nangyuan is a PADI-certified dive center. All equipment is serviced according to manufacturer guidelines. Our instructors are CPR and Emergency First Response (EFR) certified. We maintain oxygen and first aid kits on all boats and at the beach dive station.
